SDG Simulation Hubs: Generating Knowledge for Change

Indigenous Peoples - UN - Higher Education - NGOs - Business - Media Advocacy Actors

SDG simulation-based learning for Earth protection actions

Building human capacities, preparedness and resilience with indigenous knowledge

Motivating change and supporting Earth protection

The SDG Simulation Hubs are experiential, interdisciplinary and world-connected learning environments in which participants weave talents and creativity into far-reaching action plans for a people-planet paradigm change worldwide. They take ownership of the SDG language, immerse into today´s most pressing environmental challenges, and become agents of change.

Indigenous knowledge on the people-planet axis and on Earth protection informs simulation-based activities, team challenges, interactive research labs and individual tasks. Brainstorming and design thinking tools are used to stimulate group work and knowledge generation. As a World Explorer, I develop content and materials that bring world civilisations, the environmental teachings of Indigenous Peoples, and life stories to the Hubs´ learning environments.

Focus areas: Climate change, health, sustainable water management, ecosystem preservation, food security

Soft skills: Inclusive leadership, negotiation, team management, change management, partnership building, multi-stakeholder engagement, project development and implementation, creation and innovation processes, resilience

Hybrid sessions: From 2 hours to 1 week of experiential learning with on-site and on-line activities (other formats will be discussed)

`I thought it was very interesting and definitely learnt a lot´

`Thank you for your excellent negotiation session, I really enjoyed the process´

`The sessions were thoroughly enjoyable and very informative´

`I really enjoyed your positive attitude and the insights you gave us on your career but also life in general. Your optimistic yet realistic mindset was very pleasant and helpful´

`Ms. Artal has a really good way to teach and this is partly due to her great personality´

´Intensive and interesting simulations in a pleasant atmosphere´

`We went beyond our comfort zones, applied new paradigms and reflected on our behaviours´

`I rarely participated in a course that was so encouraging and with such a broad view on the world´

I design and facilitate the SDG Simulation Hubs from my work experiences in sustainable development with the United Nations in Bangkok, Thailand, and from my engagements in experiential learning in higher education in Europe and North America.

“The human development, experiential and solution-oriented perspectives of Céline Artal’s ´SDG Simulation Hubs´ prepare our students to become actors of change in sustainability, to apply their knowledge to real-life situations and to craft strategic plans for concerted actions.”
